Blame advances in medicine for letting those 60 and 70 year olds be healthy enough to still work. Or you know, find your own damn happiness and stop worrying about what others are doing.
Social media and constant exposure to ONLY the best parts of other people's lives make you think you're not doing as well as others. Fact is that if you can cry on an internet connected device about how bad you have it, you ARE doing better than a lot of people.

ok, I'll adress this one as well. America's Tax code is fucking insane. Unless you have ever had to do payroll, you probably don't know exactly how many taxes and insurances are paid on each employee. These things are based on the total payroll for the company. Now restraunts have pretty good mark ups on meals but slim margins for profits. If they bumped their staff up by say 20% (latest acceptable tip), it would cost them A LOT more in taxes and insurance premiums. Those cost would be passsed to the customers and the price of a burger would go from $9.99 to about $15. That better be a damn good burger.

The apples that Johnny "Appleseed" planted were unmodified apples that would be just about useless today. They were better suited for cider making since that's what most apples were used for back then. Also, he didn't care about feeding people when he planted those trees, he was staking claim to land along paths that rail road companies needed.
